Ashly Griffith is a representational oil painter living in New Orleans.  Originally from Arizona, she received formal training in the traditional methods of oil painting at the Vitruvian Fine Arts Studio in Chicago. She finds inspiration in exploring the textures of surfaces and capturing form through light.  Her hope is to preserve the sense of a moment.  Process is an ever growing importance in her studio practice, as her tastes and desires are always changing. A balance between spontaneous movement and stillness are of particular interest. She finds painting to be a practice of joy and contemplation that helps in the development of patience and self-reflection.
